Murder in Point Fortin

A thirty two year old man has been shot dead in Point Fortin, he is identified as Ikim Best. According to information reaching southsidenewstt shortly after 6 pm on Friday, the victim was standing in front of his home at Circular Road, Francis Lane, Warded Road when he was approached by a gunman who open fire on him. He died on the spot. The gunman escaped in a waiting vehicle. Police say they have no motive for this killing. Point Fortin Police Officers and the Officers of the Homicide Bureau Region Three are continuing investigations.

Road Protest in Point Fortin

Residents of Pt Ligoure, Fanny Village, Warden Road, Cap-de-Ville and New Village has blocked the road, leaving commuters in and out of these areas stranded. Southsidenewstt understands early as 3:00 a.m. Today, residents threw debris and lit tires in protesting the deplorable road conditions. The residents are calling on the Ministry of Works and Transportation to immediately fix the roads.

While some roads were cleared by 6:30 a.m. this morning, some residents were playing cat and mouse with the Police Officers.

Murder in Point Fortin

 A Point Fortin man have been beaten to death, he is 38 yrs old Randy Amoroso aka Crumpy /Movado of No fix place of aboard.

According to reports reaching Southsidenewstt around 8.40 pm last night the victim had an altercation with a female on Tank Farm Road, Point Ligoure, Point Fortin when smashing sounds were heard. On checking the body of Mr. Amoroso was found lying on the road way motionless.

The Point Fortin Police were contacted, a party of Officers under Inspector Corrie visited the scene.

Amoroso was pronounced dead by the District Medical Officer and his body ordered to be removed to The Forensic Science Centre where post a mortem is expected to be perform on his body to determine the cause death.

Southsidenewstt understand that Mr. Amoroso was recently release from prison.

Former Point Fortin Mayor hurt in a vehicular accident

Former Point Fortin Mayor Clyde Paul was involved in a vehicle accident last night at Union Hall, San Fernando. Details remain sketchy but Southsidenewstt understand the incident occur shortly before mid-night last night. Mr. Paul was rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital by Emergency Medical Services. Mr. Paul served as Mayor from 2010 to 2016.

Gonzales man died while trying to save a child.

A thirty five (35) year old man from Gonzales Village, Guapo has drown.

According to reports, thirty five year old Otis Morris shorty after four yesterday, was bathing at the Clifton Beach, Point Fortin. It is reported that an eleven year old girl got into difficulty in the water. Mr. Morris went to her aid when he too got into difficulty and disappeared. He was pulled to the shore by other beach goers who attended to resuscitate him. He was then rushed to the Point Fortin Hospital but was pronounce dead on arrival.

Point Fortin Police are continuing investigations.

A POINT FORTIN MAN BLED TO DEATH

Police are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a Point Fortin man 52 years old Curtis Green (A.K.A. Fighter) of Beach Road, Point Fortin. He was discovered dead at the abandon gas station in Point Ligoure by residents of the area around 9 pm Friday night. The body had a chop wound to his left hand and is it believed that he bled to death.

Southsidenewstt understands that Mr. Green who works at the Point Fortin Corporation had received his fortnightly wages on Friday.

The body was ordered to be removed to the Forensic Science where a post mortem will be performed next week.

Southern Division Homicide Bureau Officers are continuing investigation.

Farewell Service for Kymani Francis

Scores of people gathered at the Bethel Pentecostal Church in Point Fortin to say their final goodbye to Kymani Francis.

The toddler went missing on Monday 9th May from his Techier Village extension home at approximately 10:00 a.m. which prompted a massive search. He was discovered dead on Tuesday morning at the bank of the Guapo river.

An autopsy on his body confirmed that he died by drowning. During the forty five (45) minutes service the pastor asked for healing and forgiveness. Kymani Francis was buried at the Gonzales Cemetery. This is the second child that went missing in Point Fortin.

Almost forty (40) years ago two (2) year old Phillip Jones from Clifton Hill, a child of an expat whose father was at the time working at Dunlop Trinidad Limited was reported missing but further investigations revealed that he was kidnapped. A man has since been convicted for kidnapping and murder and was sentenced to death by hanging.

Kymani Francis died by Drowning

The autopsy on two years old Kymani Francis has confirmed that he died by drowning. but the time of death could not be determined. The autopsy was done by Dr. Prananik at the Forensic Science Center, St James. The toddler went missing on Monday morning at 10:00 a.m. and was found approximately 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

Southsidenewstt is disheartened over this whole incident.

A man surrender to Police for the killing of Point Fortin toddler

There are reports this afternoon that a man has walked into the Point Fortin Police Station and confess to killing two yrs old Kymani Francis. Southsidenewstt understands that the man went to the station shortly after 2 pm today and admitted to killing the toddler who went missing on Monday around 10 am and was discovered some twenty five (25) hours later dead in the river.

The suspect is currently being interviewed by the Homicide Bureau.
