Concerns are now raised by residents of Point Fortin, whether or not if they will really get the fully operational emergency facility as promised to them. The residents were promised an Accident and Emergency Department to become operational within ninety-six hours following the conversion of the new Point Fortin Hospital to a Covid 19 facility a few weeks ago. Some three hundred and sixty hours, actually fifteen days the facility which should have been up and running eleven days ago is now passed due.
Early in this month southsidenewstt was fortunate to be on tour with the Member of Parliament and Members of the South West Regional Health Authority Management when we reported what was said at that time, was good news to the residents of the Southern Borough.
Today our reporter visited the proposed A&E Facility at the former state owned Oil Company Petrotrin building in Point Fortin, much to our surprise the emergency facility which was promised to residents of Point Fortin was not up and running and there were no work activity on site. A motorist shouted out! “A woman have to give birth in a car or on the side of the road for things to happen here.”
Southsidenwewstt reached out to the Member of Parliament, Mr. Kennedy Richards Jr. who said he has done his part, the building should have been ready since last week however, it is up to the South West Regional Health Authority to commence operations. The Member of Parliament went to say that he is disappointed as every other citizen in Point Fortin.
Southsidenewstt reached out to the CEO of the South West Regional Health Authority, however calls went unanswered.
